As the name suggests, The Horse Hospital wasn't always the modern arts venue it is today. Once home to sick and injured horses - many references to its former life remain: a horse ramp to enter via, tethering rings (for unruly visitors), cast iron pillars and cobbled floor. Now you're more likely to find weird and wonderful work by artists who practice outside the mainstream - whether it's painting, film, music or performance art. Unlike so many stuffy galleries all ideas are welcomed and there's a good chance of being exhibited. In addition, the first floor gallery can be hired for private parties and presentations. It's also home to The Contemporary Wardrobe Collection, set up by costume designer and stylist Roger K. Burton. The collection is famous within the film, TV, music and fashion industries for its supply of iconic, vintage clothes; films like 'Quadrophenia', 'Absolute Beginners' and 'Sid & Nancy' have raided their rails to gain their convincing, 'of the era' look. Not only that, the collection has also appeared in prestigious museums including The Brooklyn Museum of Modern Art, Victoria & Albert Museum and The Barbican. The Horse Hospital events
