The Frontline gets its name from it's attachment to the club above it, formed to support those serving on the frontline, whether through journalism, the diplomatic service or aid agencies. For the brave souls who tough it out in war torn districts of the world this restaurant, in the relative calm of Paddington, comes as a welcome break - as it does for the rest of us too. Comforting, home cooked food includes an excellent fish pie, Cumberland sausage and mash with onion gravy and roast saddle of Lake District lamb. The excellent accompanying wine list was put together by Malcolm Gluck who specialises in writing about quaffable wines while sticking to a reasonable budget on his website Superplonk.com and in his weekly column in The Guardian. Fortunately we don't have to venture to a danger zone to dine here but we can at least feel that we are helping those who do - profits from the restaurant go towards the Frontline Forum and the charitable work it does.The Frontline Club events
