- Visitor Information
Located in the heart of London's traditional Clubland in Pall Mall, The Reform Club was founded in 1836 and was membership was initially restricted to those who pledged support for the Great Reform Act of 1832. The many MPs and Whig peers among early members developed the Club as the political headquarters of the Liberal Party - although today The Reform Club is no longer associated with any particular political party, and now serves a purely social function. The Club will forever be associated with Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days, as the place where the idea of this incredible journey was conceived and the famous bet made. Designed by Charles Barry, one of the leading architects of the day, the imposing and palatial clubhouse is as splendid today as when it opened its ornate doors in 1841. Now open to men and women from all backgrounds, The Reform Club boasts a grand study, billiards and card rooms, an extensive library, a fine dinning room, an excellent wine cellar, a garden and other function rooms.
