With live performances every night of the week set over three floors in an attractive Charlotte Street venue, welcome to the Ronnie Scott's of the Blues world in London. The capital's largest dedicated venue of its type, Charlotte St Blues is certainly an ambitious project in such difficult economic times - but one which could well pay off. A strong mix of solo acts and bands pepper the nightly billings, which bring a range of blues tinged with other genres such as gospel, swing, jazz, soul and rock seven nights a week. Three well-stocked and stylish bars boast 80 varieties of Bourbon, signature Charlotte Mint Julep cocktails served in traditional tin cups (?5.50), ice cold beers, ales and ciders, and wine by the glass, bottle of carafe (?10). Southern American-style bar snacks (popcorn chicken, clam chowder, California rolls etc) are great for group munching while on Sunday there's a special brunch which includes live gospel music and a soul food buffet for ?15. A two-course set lunch is also available for just ?8.50 - a great deal considering the stylish venue and the music on offer. It's early days, but this welcome addition to the London music scene shouldn't be having the blues any time soon .
